Oklahoma TeamWalk Connection for
people concerned with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) or
Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS)
Saturday, September 16; Norman, Oklahoma
Meet others concerned with HSP or PLS, share
stories and concerns, have fun and take us one step closer to the cure!
Connection
Gather at 10:00 a.m. on the lovely grounds of Andrews Park for an HSP-PLS
Connection. Meet with others managing life with HSP or PLS, share your stories
and concerns and enjoy time together. Plenty of parking is available. We
will meet at the picnic shelter in Andrews Park.
TeamWalk For Our Cures walkathon
At 11:00 a.m., join everyone for a TeamWalk on the Legacy Trail. Walk, roll, or
stroll as much as you desire. You can choose to do 1 or 2 miles on the Legacy
Trail, which commemorates the Land Run of Oklahoma in 1889 via statues and
monuments. Or, you can do ¼ or a ½ mile walk on beautiful side walks in
the park or even stay right there at the shelter and enjoy the day with other
non-walkers.
Our TeamWalk is a walkathon to raise funds for research. It is a pre-paid event
and you’ll collect sponsors for your participation, not distance walked. Visit our
Tips page for fundraising tips and a Sample Letter. Use
this Sponsorship Form
to keep track of your sponsors and mail it in with your donations one week ahead
of the TeamWalk (bring late sponsorships with you). All funds raised through
TeamWalk will support SPF Research Awards.
Lunch and Program after the TeamWalk
A donor has graciously agreed to provide lunch for TeamWalkers. Registration is
needed to ensure there is enough food, so please be sure to let us know if
you'll be staying for lunch in the Form below. Details are pending
regarding a special Program speaker.

Why Your Support Matters
There is currently no treatment to prevent, stop or reverse
the degenerative process in PLS or HSP. These diseases attack
one’s ability to walk, often leaving their victims in
wheelchairs. They can also rob people of the ability to use
their hands and arms, and, even to speak or cause other neurological problems as well. The
Spastic Paraplegia Foundation is the only organization in the Americas that is
dedicated to raising funds specifically for HSP and PLS
research. The organization is 100% volunteer-managed and the
TeamWalk For Our Cures is the national, community event to
raise funds for research.
