Tennessee TeamWalk Connection for people concerned with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP) or Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS)

Meet others concerned with HSP or PLS, share stories and concerns, have fun and take us one step closer to the cure!

Connection
A Lunch Connection will be held at 12:00 at the Corner Pub, 2000 Broadway, Nashville. Meet with others managing life with HSP or PLS, share your stories and concerns and enjoy time together. Individuals will pay for their own lunches (typically about $10).

TeamWalk For Our Cures walkathon
After enjoying the Lunch Connection, the group will head over to Centennial Park for our TeamWalk. One of the beautiful features of the park is the Parthenon, a full size replica of the Parthenon in Greece. The Parthenon also serves as the city of Nashville's art museum and you can tour it that day, as well. Visit http://www.nashville.gov/parthenon/.

Our TeamWalk is a walkathon to raise funds for research. It is a pre-paid event. You collect sponsorships for your participation in the event, not distance walked. Visit our Tips page for fundraising tips and a Sample Letter. Use this Sponsorship Form to keep track of your sponsors and mail it in with your donations one week ahead of the TeamWalk (bring late sponsorships with you). All funds raised through TeamWalk will support SPF Research Awards. TeamWalk Organizer Jim Sheorn says the group raised about $8,000 in last year's Tennessee TeamWalk and has a goal of raising $10,000 this year.

The Registration Fee for the TeamWalk Connection is $10 per person. This reserves your TeamWalk T-shirt. Register early, as sizes cannot be guaranteed.

Why Your Support Matters

There is currently no treatment to prevent, stop or reverse the degenerative process in PLS or HSP. These diseases attack one�s ability to walk, often leaving their victims in wheelchairs. They can also rob people of the ability to use their hands and arms, and ,even to speak or cause other neurological problems as well. The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation is the only organization in the Americas that is dedicated to raising funds specifically for HSP and PLS research. The organization is 100% volunteer-managed and the TeamWalk For Our Cures is the national, community event to raise funds for research.
