About the charity I am supporting:

The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation, founded in 2002, is the only organization in the Americas dedicated to finding the cure for Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia and Primary Lateral Sclerosis. Please visit our website by clicking on the Logo below.

Dear Family and Friends,

Last year I asked for your help and the response was overwhelming. Your kindness and generosity put researchers closer to finding the cure for primary lateral sclerosis (PLS) and hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP). As many of you know, these are rare progressive neurodegenerative disorders.

These disorders have a mind of there own and affects each victim with varying degrees of severity. Julie and I are aware of how it can become aggressive without warning and we are learning how to accept that fact as we move forward with our daily routines. I am one of the lucky ones. Many of my fellow-PLSers and HSPers are far worse off than me. However, we share the common wish and desire that someday this malady and others like it will be eliminated for our future generations.

Medical research is a slow, methodical process of trial and error. Some of the very best scientists from around the world are involved in studies which will ultimately lead to a cure for PLS and HSP. The Spastic Paraplegia Foundation (SPF) was formed in 2002 with the primary purpose of raising funds to fuel this research. To date, more than $1 million has been raised. This mission is constant and expensive, but destined to pay huge dividends at some point in the future...hopefully soon.

We hold small events throughout the year in various parts of the country, but the premier fund raiser is our annual TeamWalk for The Cures walk-a-thon. This nationally recognized event will be held in conjunction with our Annual Conference this year in New York, September 15-17. Members of the SPF community seek sponsorships from family and friends and once again, Julie and I are asking for your kind support.

I know many charities count on your generosity, so your donation to this effort in any amount will be greatly appreciated. If that’s not possible, I fully understand. Please keep the Spastic Paraplegia Foundation in your prayers and continue to lend the emotional and spiritual support that makes you so very special to us.

Thank you for considering this request. Your participation means a great deal to us and to the thousands of other PLS and HSP patients and their families. God bless you. You can make an online credit card donation through PayPal (a secure site) using the Donate button below or print out the Sponsorship Form and mail it in with your donation.
